Okay, so the last post I was on my way to the local high school football game. Little did I know that a few minutes after I posted, my sister would call and say that she had too much to get ready for all the teens to come over after the game and she asked that I come over and help her. So, I did and it turned out to be a fun day. Leesburg beat Bishop Moore (which honestly, no one saw that coming!!) And the teens entertained us until they all left at midnight. Saturday was a day of errands, with dinner and a movie with friends that night. If you have not yet seen All About Steve, it is a definite must see! I loved the closing line of the movie. If you love someone let them go, if you have to stalk them, they weren't yours to begin with. (Does that remind you of someone you know?)
Sunday was a wonderful day at church, and the NASCAR race this week was at Atlanta and started at 7pm. I thought this would be perfect to ask a few friends over to watch the race after the evening service. I was house sitting for my parents and I figured Dad was so hyped up to have help up at the Keaton Beach house that he was going to take full advantage of a 3 day weekend, at least this is what I kept hearing. No one told me what days I was house sitting, just that since I didn't have any plans if I would stay there and take care of the dog. I invited a family with 2 kids, my sis & brother-in-law and Ayva and they thought it would be a good idea to invite another family as they are huge race fans and due to the economy have cut back to just basic cable so they don't get ESPN. No big deal, get a little more hamburger meat and another bag of chips and we are good, or so I think. I had one family follow me to my parents house only to pull in and my dad's truck is there. Do what? That wasn't here when I left. So I walk in and dad was sleeping on the couch and I was like, um Hi, Dad, welcome home. He had seen my notes and asked if I was having people over and I said yes, and told him who, I said we could go out somewhere and watch the race and he said, no, it's okay. So, we all invade his quiet house and go about fixing dinner and watching the race. By the end of the race, it was just Dad & I left and he kept falling asleep, so I was silently (or as silently as I could) cheering Kasey Kahne (my future husband) on to victory. All I kept thinking as the laps kept clicking down was that if a caution comes out, this is going to be very bad. But there was no caution, and Kasey won. Dad woke up so I got to cheer, and then I high tailed it out of the house!
And now I understand how all those parties kids throw can get so out of had, what started out to be a few people watching a race ended up being a house full of people (most not caring one wit about the race). So parents, when you catch your kid having a party and they say, but I don't know how it got this big, they are probably right. And Jenn, next time you question something, speak up. You and mom communicate, so you are probably right about what you think is going on. Best laid plains and all that...
